About this Trip

Get Out’s Thirty Thousand Islands adventure explores the world’s largest freshwater archipelago, designated in 2004 as a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. Host to some of the region’s best sea kayaking, we’ll base ourselves out of the port town of Parry Sound and spend two days exploring its endless islands by kayak, while enjoying comfortable nights gazing at the stars. We’ll augment our water adventures with some land-based exploring of this unique region, choosing between lakeside rock climbing, epic mountain biking and rugged hiking trails.

The trip begins in the evening before our first day of adventure, you'll check into your lodge in the late afternoon where your guide will meet you for a drink and to chat about what to expect over the next few days.

Day 1 - Today is all about getting acquainted with your sea kayak! Out on the beautiful Parry Sound waters, we’ll spend the morning building our paddling skills. We’ll learn the keys to efficient paddling, how to control the boat with our bodies, getting in and out of the kayak in deep water, and how to navigate open water. After our morning clinic we’ll enjoy a delicious picnic lunch before getting back on the water and putting our skills to the test on our first island circumnavigation. We’ll cap off the day with a cookout and stargazing before heading back to the lodge.

Day 2 - After yesterday’s skill course and trial expedition, today we test the open waters and set out for a full day of sea kayak exploration. We’ll discover the beautiful Georgian Bay islands that inspired some of the most famous ‘Group of Seven’ paintings and navigate the endless passageways between a few of the thirty thousand islands that make up the world’s largest freshwater archipelago. After a long day of beautiful exploration, we’ll head into town for a hearty dinner and some local beers!

Day 3 - On our last day we’ll leave the water to explore some of the many land-based adventures available in the region! We can rock climb on tranquil lakeside cliffs, pedal local mountain bike trails, or go for a peaceful hike to discover the region’s inland lakes and forests. Whichever adventure you choose for your last day, we’ll cap it off with a delicious meal and a bonfire before saying goodbye to this beautiful region.
